How to calculate it

Calculate Market Share as: Company sales / Total market sales × 100. Pull the inputs from your connected data and track the trend over time in your dashboard.

Example 1

Your $5M revenue in a $100M market = 5% share. Track the trend against your two closest competitors.

Example 2

$5M in revenue within a $100M market -> 5% share, up from 4% last year, indicating the company is outgrowing the overall market.

Why it matters

Market share is the company's share of total market sales and is a key indicator of competitive position and growth relative to the field. Gaining share, especially in a growing market, signals a winning product and go-to-market. Defining the market too narrowly or broadly distorts the figure and the conclusions drawn from it.
